Draft. These terms are being checked by a lawyer before the public launch, and the blanks are filled in then. Last updated October 4, 2026.
Terms
These are the rules for playing BANKRUPT. By making an account or playing as a guest, you agree to them. They're written in plain English — if anything is unclear, ask us.
1. Who we are
BANKRUPT is run by name or business name — added before launch, province — added before launch, Canada. You can reach us at contact email — added before launch, or through the contact form on the front page. Our privacy page says what the game keeps about you.
2. Who can play
- You must be 18 or over.
- Your account is for you alone. Don't share it, sell it or give it away.
- Keep your password safe. You're responsible for what happens on your account.
3. The game is in alpha
BANKRUPT is still being built and tested. Things will break, change or be removed. Your progress may be wiped at or before the full launch — when we know, we'll say so ahead of time.
4. Playing fair
Don't:
- cheat, hack, or change the game or its files;
- use bots, macros or anything else that plays for you;
- use a bug to get ahead — report it instead;
- buy or sell game cash, items, accounts or services (like leveling someone's character) for real money or anything outside the game — real money goes only through the game's own ways of paying, once there are any;
- scam other players;
- harass, threaten or bully anyone, post hate, slurs or sexual content, or share anyone's personal information;
- pretend to be staff or another player;
- spam or advertise.
Your player name follows the same rules. The game's world is about crime — drugs, guns and life on the street. That's fiction: don't use the game or its chat to arrange anything illegal in real life.
5. Chat
Chat is filtered: slurs are always hidden, and swearing is hidden unless you switch it on. You can block and report players. Reported chat is checked by a person, and several players reporting the same person can mute them automatically for a while.
6. If you break the rules
Depending on how serious it is: a warning, a mute, losing what you gained unfairly, or a ban — for a while or for good. Bans for good are decided by a person, not a machine. If a lot of cash or goods comes into an account very fast, the game puts it on hold — no trading, selling or buying off the shelves — until a person checks it. We can also undo a trade that went wrong. If you think we got it wrong, write to us.
7. Game cash and items
Everything in the game — cash, items, bonds, cosmetics, levels — is part of the game. It isn't your property, has no real-money value, and can't be cashed out. We may change or remove things to keep the game fair and working, such as fixing an item that's too strong.
8. Paying
Nothing is for sale yet. When membership and other paid things arrive, their terms — including refunds — will be added here before anything is sold.
9. Our game, your words
The game — its world, art, code, music and name — belongs to us. Don't copy or reuse it. Your player name and what you write in chat stay yours, but you let us show them in the game and on bankrupt.world. Your player name, levels and stats can appear on the public high scores page.
10. No promises
We work hard to keep BANKRUPT running, but we can't promise it will always be up, free of bugs, or that nothing will ever be lost. As far as the law allows, we aren't responsible for lost progress or for what other players do. Nothing here takes away rights you have under the consumer laws where you live.
11. Ending
You can stop playing any time and ask us to delete your account. We can close an account that breaks these rules. If we ever close the game, we'll give notice first.
12. The law
These terms are under the laws of province — added before launch and of Canada.
13. Changes
We may update these terms. When we do, the date at the top changes, and anything important is announced in the game before it takes effect. Playing after that means you accept the new terms.
